Ameca splendens female dominance visible from colouration?

Hi all,For some time I observed pigmentation differences in female Ameca splendens. Some females have the black dots distributed over more or less the lower 2/3 of the body, while others have them mainly in a lateral stripe, a bit more like the male pattern. I noticed that the striped ones are dominant in the school. I presume that in fact it is oposite: dominant fish assume the striped pattern. I think that this might be something new, that female fish change colour according to dominance (and not only males). I wonder, is this something which can be generally observed in this species (and other Goodeids)?
