Remarks:

This species is not doing well when fed exclusively with flake-food. Strong Live food (Bloodworms) is important. Tank should be well structured, males are fighting sometimes very hard. Tank should be bigger for well breeding groups, I presume, at least about 80 cm in length. Other structures like plant-pots to hide are welcomed. This species can be kept in Austria outdoors from June to the end of September or midth of October. Water changes are very important to keep the species healthy The temperature should go down deeper in winter, around 15°C. In summer, best not more than 23°C. Fry can be very small and swims the early days ground oriented. Needs small Live food to grow up, when fed exclusively with flake food, a high number of fry will die. I feed adults with Nauplias in the morning, and a second feeding in the afternoon with changing food sorts.
